What we’re looking for

We are looking for an engineer that knows both the software & infrastructure best practices & design patterns for modern scalable application architecture. Ideally this person should be able to work between DevOps/infrastructure & the software development team to help optimize our codebase with regards to our cloud infrastructure. The candidate should also be able to maintain & improve the current cloud infrastructure which includes monitoring, alerting, & other DevOps/infrastructure tools.

Responsibilities

  • Be able to collaborate with product teams, & other engineering teams to design & build state-of-the art solutions.
  • Maintain a culture of quality technical work mixed with respectful interpersonal skills
  • Experience designing, building, & operating large scale services, solving problems including performance, scalability, reliability, observability, cost management, etc.
  • Develop technical skills further to keep up to date with new DevOps/SRE technologies
  • Working with partners & compliance measures on a Global scale.
  • Be a self starter, work with agility, & adapt to a quickly changing industry & work environment

Requirements

  • Experience with containerization, container management, & cluster management (Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS)
  • Experience deploying & running AWS-based solutions (and familiar with tools such as CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, EC2, S3, ECS, RDS, etc. or an equivalent cloud provider)
  • Experience or understanding of managing infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
  • Experience with software development in Python, specifically Python Django
  • Experience with PostgreSQL
  • Demonstrable understanding of software development & testing practices for applications with concerns to scale
  • Experience & deep understanding of metrics & logging aggregation best practices & technologies (DataDog, Splunk, ELK, etc.)
  • Unix/Linux OS administration & configuration
  • A good understanding of multiple of the following scripting languages: Python, Bash, & Go
  • Knowledge of build servers & CI/CD (Gitlab CI, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Experience/understanding of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Experience/understanding of monitoring & alerting tools (Datadog, Pagerduty, etc.)
  • Experience working on-call shifts & in production-grade environments
